UNCCD's 'Land Hero' International Award conferred on Siddhesh Sakore
Siddesh Sakore of Dhamari village in Shirur taluka, Pune district has been awarded the prestigious international award 'Land Hero' by the United Nations Convention to Combat Desertification (UNCCD) Siddesh was honored in Germany along with youngsters from all over the world.
Siddhesh is a farmer and founder of Agro Rangers, an organization committed to eradicating soil erosion in agricultural land. Over the past five years, he has conducted extensive research to develop an intercropping-based agroforestry model. It improves the quality of life of farmers by improving soil health and also reduces the effects of climate change.
Siddesh is passionate about empowering small and marginal farmers in his community through these innovative agroforestry practices and has founded Agro Rangers under his leadership. Smallholder farmers are bringing positive change to communities. He strives to enrich the lives of farmers by commenting on important topics such as combating soil degradation and addressing the challenges of climate change. His success from a rural farming background is truly an inspiration to all the youth working in agriculture.
