Industrial Pollution: Weighing the Balance Between Development and Environmental Consequences

Industrial Pollution: Weighing the Balance Between Development and Environmental Consequences

Industrial pollution

Industrialization plays an important role in the development of any country.  In fact, it is necessary to maintain the balance of the environment during industrialization.  However, even today sewage from many industries is released in the open or in the river channel.  Smoke from companies makes life difficult.  Natural resources are being destroyed for industry, infrastructure.  At such a time, it is natural to ask whether development is necessary or not.  While developing it should be balanced, sustainable.  Hope the industry will definitely pay attention to this…

Industrial Pollution

Co relation of environment

Industrial development is not possible without entrepreneurship.  It is necessary for every industrialist to take care that there is no harm to the environment during industrial development.  Factories that constantly belch fumes and emit polluted water pollute the earth.  Factory managers who do not install pollution control systems in their factories are responsible for this.  Is this type of development suitable for our country while developing industrially?  This question should be looked at seriously today.  Displacing workers and destroying the environment are two important things to avoid in industrial development.
When relating the environment to industrial development and entrepreneurship, one must first understand what entrepreneurship is.  Entrepreneurship is the sum total of many qualities in a person.  Key which is very essential for a person entering a business or industry to be successful.  From it their creativity flourishes and success in business is achieved.  Entrepreneurship is the practical aspect of business and industry, which includes project planning, licensing, capital raising, project design, organization of production units, and successful marketing of goods and services.

Eco-friendly lifestyle

Today we have industrialized a lot but today the society should adopt an eco-friendly lifestyle.  About 60 percent of the total agricultural land in India is subject to soil erosion, waterlogging and salinization.  At present, 300 lakh hectares of sensitive land under agriculture is rapidly deteriorating.  Every year, the precipitation is increasing rapidly and the soil is being eroded, so the agriculture is also in danger.  At such a time, natural, organic, biological farming should be widely adopted.
In industrialized countries, the per capita consumption of energy has increased due to rapid industrialization.  In order to improve the future energy situation, on the one hand efforts should be made to increase energy supply in a sustainable manner.  Energy demand should be reduced by efficient utilization.  We should consider renewable energy sources that are economically affordable, more equitably distributed, less harmful to the environment than fossil fuels.

Problems and side effects

Indian subcontinent is also feeling the effects of global warming.  Due to increasing pollution from factories and vehicles and destruction of forests, the temperature of the atmosphere is continuously increasing.  Rainfall in many parts of our country is changing every year.  Precipitation patterns are changing.  Cloud bursting is happening while some places are facing heavy rain.  Today there has been massive urbanization.  Employment has increased due to MIDC in the city.  Many people from villages have settled in cities.  Due to this, many situational problems have arisen in the city today.

The raw material is processed in the factory.  A product is produced from it.  Also the inevitable but undesirable effects of the production process like co-production i.e. pollution are removed.  Along with the raw materials required for production, energy, water etc. are used in the manufacturing process.  The finished goods are then sent to the market.  From there we buy it.  Pollution from factories is the first and most obvious consequence.  Water and air pollution and in some cases solid waste pollution are easily visible to anyone.  In the world of relations, such pollution problem has assumed a very serious form.
Twenty years ago, a serious industrial accident at the Union Carbide factory in Bhopal drew the attention of the entire world to industrial accidents.  4000 people died in this accident.  The effects on the health of the people there are still felt today.  People die, get injured due to industrial accidents.  It affects the environment and destroys natural resources.
Business-related health problems are starting to show.  A person works for a living but sometimes the place of work or the nature of work itself becomes hazardous to health.  E.g.  A worker in a coal mine inhales coal dust through his nose.  Workers in nuclear power plants are constantly at risk from nuclear emissions.  The problem of child labor in dangerous factories like carpets, cardboard boxes, crackers is very serious and a matter of concern.

Enforcement through legislation

There are many regulations in place in India to ensure that the factories that operate do not harm the environment.  According to this rule, the amount of waste water, its copy etc.  Things are decided.  And it is implemented through law.  It includes important laws like Water Pollution Control Act, Air Pollution Control Act, Environment Protection and Conservation Act.  The laws and regulations in this regard are followed.  Strict and impartial implementation of the law by the government is essential to ensure this.  Instead of using the bar of law, efforts should be made in the direction that the factories take initiative and take care of the environment.  An important solution is to realize that environmental awareness is ultimately economically beneficial.  Some manufacturers are found to be more environmentally conscious.  It is definitely a matter of pride.
The environmental impacts of factories are vast and complex.  If the government, entrepreneurs and common people like us come together and make a sincere and planned effort, the way will be clear.  In many places common people have raised voice against this.  Collective effort is needed to save the environment.  We will realize that development is related to both humans and environment.

Environmentally friendly industrial development

Balance of environment should be maintained through industrial development.  Can we achieve development by building huge factories, huge dams, towering buildings, grand bridges and building fast cars or computers?  Economic progress is one factor of development.  All of the above may be necessary for that.  But focusing all efforts on that and neglecting other equally important factors can backfire.
The environment is the source of all the basic resources required for survival.  It is from the environment that industries get raw materials, food for people, fuel for transportation.  The waste materials generated from the development works are reabsorbed into the environment.  That is, the environment is the origin and final destination of development works, so the environment should be cultivated while achieving industrial development through entrepreneurship.
